Me & my Dog Competition. Win a handmade leather journal.

It is time for our first competition since DogWalkBloggs has been live for about two months now. Hopefully the competition will be enough to tempt some of you to post a picture or two.

The competition is to post a picture that fits the theme, "Me and my Dog". I am allowing a wide interpretation of this brief (it does not even need to be you, or your dog in the picture). You can post one entry per day but on as many days as you want. The competition will close at the end of August 2013.

Instructions on posting pictures are here http://www.dogwalkbloggs.com/showthr...sting-Pictures and for posting from a smartphone here http://www.dogwalkbloggs.com/showthr...our-smartphone

Now I am not allowed to win. But I can post entries just for fun. Everyone else can win. As a starter my first entry would have been this one

The prize is a handmade leather journal. I can't show you a picture of it as I have not made it yet. It will have a paw print embossed into the front and will probably be brown. It will clip closed and have a pen holder in the closure. I will hand stitch the whole thing in saddle stitch using artificial sinew. The insert can be swapped over when full. Just to give you an idea here are some pictures of journals I have done before.

One with Celtic knot work and a ying and yang.

    A pirate one

and a Dr Who spoilers book.

I will be making the dog paw print book anyway and posting pictures here as it progresses but if the winner wants a Dr Who Spoilers book instead I am happy to make one for them instead.

Not sure if I have uploaded this correctly, but this is my favourite photo of Bra'Tac last winter in Lochwinnoch. Perhaps the December shot for a Dog Walk Bloggs Calendar????

yvaine, that didn't work but i fixed it for you

to insert an image, click that icon with the little tree in it (3rd from the right in the message window).
then in the URL field, paste the link from photobucket that's called 'direct'.

i already have one of john's beautiful leather journals. they're really stunningly made!
i'm not sure i should compete for another one - that would be a bit gluttonous. therefore i reserve the right to pass it on to the runner-up, in the unlikely event that i should win

so then, here we go: this is the look i get when i hold "her" ball

Here is a Sam "Day One" picture. You can ignore the Bakers bag. That came with her and was not what I fed her.

Everywhere we go - PoppyDog goes too!

    [IMG][/IMG]

Could have been corny and said 'perception is everything' or similar; maybe a 'figurehead' reference to the old sailing ships but decided on KISS approach and say it as it is!
BTW, a big thanks to MagiKelly and the other SOTPers who advised persistance and encouragement re early issues with PFD, she is fine with it now and the handle makes recovery so easy after the inevitable swim.
BTW2, the good looking one is our son DJ, he has his Mothers genes obviously!

Lots of lovely pictures, baby Sam and Goldies hug particularly

I actually dont really have many of me and the Ninja

But it does say it doesnt have to be you or your dog so, I have a series of photos I love, they act like a flicker book, of our old boy having fun with my old man, so its not really cheating, the series starts like this.........

I rarely walk with my hubby and he thinks I am obsessive anyway so if I asked him to take a photo of me and ninja he would think I was even nuttier than before so I had to resort to self portraiture, this was yesterday, we went for a little picnic walk, she looks completely and utterly freaked out where as I look ok, no double chins or anything, and shes normally the photogenic one, I would love to know what she saw

The competition is now closed. I have now just to wait till I hear back from the independent judges. I will post the result as soon as I have it.

And we have a winner. The judges were impressed by a lot of the pictures but in the end picked this one by Goldie. In the end they felt it was the one that most fitted the Me and My Dog theme.

Congratulations. I will drop you a PM shortly about book options.

Since part of the idea behind the competition was to encourage more posting of pictures on the forum I feel that Kim and Zilla deserve something for having the most entries, so when I get a chance I will do a Spoilers book for you

Now I need to get the leatherwork started and think of a theme and prize for the next competition.

Wow thanks everyone, but especially to Magikelly, this is so cool, I never win anything. Sorry for the delay in replying but I have just moved house and have been a bit distracted of late. We are now living just outside of Lincoln so may well be picking peoples brains for good walks in the area. There have been some great pics posted, I've really enjoyed looking at them all.

Thanks MagiKelly, the book is beautiful, I think I'll use it for dog related notes. The craftsmanship is truly outstanding!
